If It’s On The Internet It Can’t Hurt Me In Real Life…

There are many myths of the internet but I think the one that is most common and possibly most damaging is the misconception that the online world and the real world are not connected; that what happens in one cannot affect the other.

More commonly now potential employers will type your name into Google, look at your Facebook profile and read your blog before even deciding on whether to offer you an interview!

Our online personalities are as equal, if not more influential than our face-to-face interactions. And that is just what we are consciously sharing; we make online appearances we might not even know about through other peoples uploads of photos, videos and tags. And then there is the small bit about once it’s out there it’s a lot more difficult to take it back.

People are now using the internet almost subconsciously. Gone are the days when you needed a PC and a dial-up to gain a connection, with mobile phones and handheld computers consumers can access the internet at the click of a button without even having to think about it.

Games and Apps can connect people to their online persona’s whenever and wherever with very little limitation.
